Short Presentation
My scientific background can be divided in four interconnected areas: i) farming systems characterization and modelling for decision support; ii) integrated sustainability and resilience analysis; iii) consumer perception of quality and marketing research; and iv) socio-cultural and economic valuation of ecosystem services provided by agriculture. I have used multiple conceptual frameworks and methodologies, at the interplay between social, economic and biophysical disciplines.
I work as a senior researcher at CITA (Centro de Investigación y Tecnología Agroalimentaria de Aragón), where I was Director or Research between 2000 and 2023. In the past I worked at University of Edinburgh (1995-1999) and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (2011-2014), funded by the European Commission.
I was member of the Scientific Council and President of the Livestock Farming Systems Commission of the EAAP (2008-2014) and Section Editor (Livestock Farming Systems and Environmental Impact) of the journal ANIMAL (2007-2018).
